We believe in approaching giving the way that Jesus told us to do:

Key principles for giving:

  1. Give not because you must, but because you want to

  2. Give from the heart, out of joy

  3. Don’t boast about your giving

2 Corinthians 9:9 (NIV) As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Matthew 6:1, 3 (NIV) “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

Luke 16:9 (NIV) I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

Luke 14:13-14 (NIV) But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Whom to give:

Acts 4:32 (NIV) All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.

Galatians 6:6 (NIV) Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

Acts 10:4 (NIV) Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.
